Hermit Grub started with four hermit crabs.

In 2017, our children brought home four hermit crabs from a pet store. Like many new keepers, we thought caring for them would be simple. Once we started researching, we realized there was much more to it than we’d been told.

I wanted to feed our own crabs the way they would eat in nature.

So I created the food I couldn’t find.

Turns out thousands of other crab keepers were looking for the same thing.

Today, every recipe is still mixed and packed by our family in Wichita, Kansas.

Along the way, Hermit Grub became more than just food. It became a place to share what we’ve learned, answer questions, and help new keepers feel more confident caring for their crabs.

Our goal hasn’t changed: to help hermit crabs live long, healthy lives through better food and better education.
